As previous posters have observed, 6 mos is actually an easily time to travel. We routinely flew transcons and to/from Hawaii with our kids at that age. We didn't start world travel until 1 year, mainly due to the desire to wait for the first bank of immunizations. At that point, we literally went around the world. Indeed, my eldest set foot on every (inhabited) continent before he turned 2.
IME, kids take cues from their parents. If you are an easy going traveller, they will be too. I have also discovered, however, that kids handle jet lag very differently. One of our sons takes only a day to acclimate to a 12-hour time shift, the other takes over a week. YMMV.
