Obviously forward of the wing is better, but even over the wing you can still see things ahead of you, just not straight down. I was always disappointed to book into, say, 19A but the view was not as disappointing as I expected to be. After all, even sitting forward of the wing, the wing will block your view of what you've passed. That is a problem with sitting back of the wing, e.g., 29, since in your normal line of sight out the window and facing forward, there is a big honking wing in your view. You can see down, but you have to crane and stick your forehead on the window pane to see it.
As a window person myself, I would give up my window not to be in 37-38! My window vs. forward trade-off is usually around row 24.
Thanks! I guess my best option is to check her in right at T-24 and hope for a priority seat.
Here's a question: If I make a booking for someone else while logged into my account, will it show up under my account, and have my status perks (like seat selection), or do I need to actually be travelling on the itinerary?
It will show up under yours if you log in to AC when making the booking (at the point where it says log in or continue as guest).
She won't have your perks, but my past experience has shown that she may get a preferred seat at T-24. For some reason, AC plunks booking under my account in preferred seats at T-24 (provided that they're available).
