1. Sorry for the confusion - I was actually looking to book two flights on K6 (like my use of lingo?) - one that I have already booked that was $250 per ticket where the taxes were clearly listed as "US Taxes" and came out to $100 total - so $50 each on a ticket of $250 each. That flight was from Ho Chi Min City to Siem Reap.
I then priced a ticket going from Siem Reap to BKK on K6 where the ticket was $130 each. Once again (strangely in my mind) the taxes were again listed as "US Tax" $100. So in this case it was once again a tax of $50 each despite the ticket being $130 each vs. $250 each. I found it odd that the tax on two items with such drastic price difference could be the same. And given the rudimentary nature of the K6 website I just assumed something screwy was going on.
2. While I understand that tax is part of any airfare:
a. It seemed very high to me $50 tax on a total amount of $130
b. Again, how could tax be the same on two different totals.
3. I didnt understand if the US Tax was punitive in its total - nearly 50% of total fare - and if booking it via some 3rd party that was local - say, in Cambodia, would get around this tax.
I dont mean to belabor this - I will call a travel agent and get to the bottom of all of it. Any further insight you might have is great.
Thanks.
