Hope for SWU/Mileage Upgrades?

I know that most domestic route K+ fares haven't increased much, maybe only a few dollars, but fares to DEL or BOM and other Asian cities have M+ fares $1000 higher than they were before the "realignment". Y fares have remained pretty much the same though.

What do people think will be the prospects of using mileage upgrades and SWUs internationally? Seems like this move renders them nearly useless! Also on my domestic routes I average 80%+ upgrades as long as I don't SDC on T/X/V fares so it seems futile to buy the K fare just to upgrade.

On the trip I booked for this summer, it made much more sense to buy the super discounted J fares, as they ended up being a couple hundred more than the M fares and lose 50K miles a ticket and be confined by OP space! not to mention the higher MQM I'm earning.
