For future Aeroplan bookings you should look into using 24 hours stopovers to your advantage. You can go out and enjoy the city and eliminate the stress of missing a connection. As long as your next flight connects within 24 hours of your previous flight it does not use up one of your stopovers (outside NA or maybe it is outside Can/US).
