I'm a huge fan of H20 Wireless. They're pretty similar to SimpleTalk and run off the ATT backbone.

You can buy a SIM on Ebay shipped for $.99 and maybe if ya talk with the guy first they can give you the details so you can register it online before you get it (and if you trust the guy!).

It's 100% prepaid. No activation fees. $30 gets ya unlimited talk/sms for a month. Data is also available at decent rates, $60/mo gets you unlimited talk/text and 2GB data.

I'll opt for the $10/mo prepaid plan. This gets me $.05 minutes and SMS. Since I'm usually around wifi in the States for free calling (TalkaTone) and GoogleVoice (SMS), this is a great option if you don't need all the unlimited garbage. If you run out of cash, just top it up of course.
