Totally agree with you, especially if you are shopping at Walmart anyways. And you don't have deal with buying VR at CVS (max 2 VR a day). For GC, you can buy as many as you want and they are shipped to you.
But this is ignoring credit card choice. I have a card that gives 5% off at drug stores, including CVS. It won't give me more than 1% of the gift card sites. (Of course, I can buy the GC at CVS, but then I don't get the savings in your calculation)
