Both the Garden Court Palo Alto and the Four Seasons East Palo Alto are acceptable options that contradict David's statement above that the only nice hotels are the Westin and the Sheraton.

You might consider Dinah's, the Residence Inn, or the Courtyard in south Palo Alto/Los Altos. The non-chain Dinah's is actually pretty decent. To get to Google from any of these, take El Camino south to San Antonio eastbound (turn left). Follow San Antonio up over the 101 freeway and take the first right after passing 101. This loops around and basically dead ends at Google. No freeway traffic because there is no need to get on the freeway.
