Arghhh. Incredibly frustrated to read this (and linked) threads too late.... Wanted to fly LHR-GIG in first followed by EZE-LHR in club using a 2-4-1. Found the flights (amazingly) and called the gold line to be told because they were in different zones I couldn't use the 2-4-1 in this way. I booked the EZE club flights anyway (I know how rare they are!), but let the GIG flights go and now are long gone.

I am a big fan of BA and the Avios programme. However it's damn frustrating when a member of staff seemingly gives you incorrect information, especially when you spend so many hours (and so many £££s) on their company's product.
