It's still a great resort, but personally I can't agree with their criteria for determining it to be the best, even without taking price into account. I find there to be better examples across the board in every aspect.
Of course the CN gold list should be taken with a grain of salt, as CN Traveller's awards are often totally baseless.
I think the best options are FSKH, FSLG (especially two-bedroom overwater suites), OORR Grand Beach and Grand Water villas, Soneva Fushi, and Gili Lankanfushi.
Most of the newer properties, with the possible exception of Cheval Blanc, do not really interest me. Jumeirah Dhavenfushi does not interest me.
I plan to try BT Madivaru in combination with another larger resort on a future trip. The beaches look very nice and the diving is supposedly very good, although I am a bit concerned about the lack of public space and other resort amenities.
