I agree, it's a tray meal on an airplane. It's not the end of the world, just like not every choice you make in a restaurant will always be the ideal one.
Keep in mind that food will vary greatly depending on the route. Fly out of SIN and you'll be fine, depart from SYD and you'll wish you had eaten a full meal before boarding.
But sometimes SQ does make the wrong choice... for example one Lunar New Year season, SQ decided to introduce some 'local' delicacies for its passengers.. which went well for the locals but the dishes came back untouched for the other passengers...
Starters - Yu Sheng .. raw fish tossed in sesame seed oil and sweetened crisps.
Dessert - Longan Soup .. dried longan in a sugary broth.
The Yu Sheng isn't even smoked salmon, and the longan soup - well, lets just say that its sort of er, pungent that even I find a little strong..
