And longer segments are always expensive. Try going from manaus to florianopolis or foz to manaus

You make many valid points. Advance planning is key to getting super cheap tickets; I should have said domestic flights in Brazil CAN be super cheap. During the holiday and carnival seasons when demand increases it would be more difficult to use FF miles on popular routes.
