As everyone knows Obama agreed to it only because the country was being held hostage over the debt ceiling, obviously not because he wanted it to take effect or thought that it would.

And what Republicans have actually offered was to make up the cuts in defense with even deeper cuts in non-defense programs. It was in their "spending reduction act of 2012"
