USA is already known to be the most gullible nation in the world when it comes to CC security, and that is why CC fraud in the USA has increased 400% since 2010, it is ridiculous. Many East Asian friends of mine can't believe it when they see me swipe my US-based CC and don't have to type in a PIN number right there on the spot to the merchant, and that I trust them enough to add any amount later on to the tip. Granted these are 5-star establishments, but they still find the whole concept of "no PIN on the spot" ridiculously lax, and say they would never use a CC that doesn't have that "layer of security."
So I can see the need for additional layer of security in East Asia, but wonder why the whole process can't be taken care of online with a few additional simple scripts.
