Can't buy tickets on United.com
First time poster, long time lurker. I finally joined FT because I'm at my wits' end! Starting around 2 months ago, I have been unable to purchase tickets on the United.com website. When it gets to the final step, when I click "I agree-continue to purchase", I get the error message:
"Error
! We’re sorry, but united.com was unable to complete your request. Please try later or contact united.com Support in the U.S. and Canada at 1-800-396-1751; the U.K. at 0800 028 5003; elsewhere use the local phone number."
Has anyone else encountered this error? I have contacted web support and customer care, and no one has offered any help. Customer Care wrote:
"We have a specialized IT team that works on upgrading, improving, repairing our system. Unfortunately I do not have access to their items of tasks to be worked on. I hope your account is fixed soon."
I can buy tickets online provided that I don't enter my Mileage Plus number. But if I purchase a ticket and then try to enter my MP number after it is purchased, I get an error message (names don't match?) I wonder if this problem started a few months ago, back when United out of the blue changed the name on my MP account...
