Please post your Priority Club Elite experiences thread here, my impression is that Platinum Elites (even if not Ambassador or RA) stand quite a good, almost guaranteed, chance of room upgrades in all sorts of IHG hotels, including InterContinental properties.
Is that fair to say, or am I missing/misinterpreting something?
In UK, Europe I have very good room upgrade sucess at CP, HI, HIX's without needing to ask. Always to next category room, not just the minimum in PCR T&C's that says
"
Hotel Room Upgrades for Platinum Members: Platinum level members will be offered a complimentary upgrade, as determined by the hotel, which might include rooms on higher floors, corner rooms, newly renovated rooms, or rooms with preferred views"
PCR Platinum won't really count as much at IC's .
unlike if you pay $200 year to be Ambassador you get a "Guaranteed 1-level upgrade" at IC's.
I had stayed at a few IC's beore joining the IHG Ambassaor program, and was sometimes told,
"As platinum we are giving you a recently refurbished room" but ended up in same room type I had booked.
Yes occaisionally one gets lucky at IC, if basic booking basic rooms which are often oversold, with deluxe/exec rooms undersold, then PCR Plats should get preference for the nicer room.
