I haven't had much exposure to IHG beyond some brief stays in the past.

Looking at the Please post your Priority Club Elite experiences thread here, my impression is that Platinum Elites (even if not Ambassador or RA) stand quite a good, almost guaranteed, chance of room upgrades in all sorts of IHG hotels, including InterContinental properties.

Is that fair to say, or am I missing/misinterpreting something?
