3 of the 7 A340s are getting a bit old, yes. The regulars here (including me) may be a bit tired of them but then again we also have high expectation on our "own" carrier.

A320 is used for shorhaul, mostly european trips, 2-4 hours. It is not super, but rubbish may be a bit too hard judgement. It is on par with what almost every operator offers for shorthaul in europe. 3-3-seating is a bit cramped, but they often block middle seat in j-cabin.
I have personally come to like the Embraers over the narrow body Airbuses, though.
