Safe? Definitely. Domestically, its Y product is decent (especially compared to the competition), but the J product is sub-par compared to 9W. When the schedule and price work, AI is a decent choice for domestic Y.
6E is an LCC (leaves from a different airport in DEL). No-frills, reliable, safe service, so definitely a good choice when the schedule and price work. However, not a good choice for domestic-international connections at BOM or DEL, since it operates from a different building 15-20 minutes away.

You cannot enter the terminal until 4 hours prior to departure, unless you have a confirmed reservation at the transit hotel.
