Bear in mind too that TG arrives in BKK quite late. TG would have better legroom than most airlines but entertainment for such a long flight is restricted to what is showing on the main screen I am afraid.
SQ does have better entertainment (individual IFE with various movie selections and Nintendo games) and their routes that are served by their 777 aircraft have the same seat pitch as THAI's 747-400s which are better legroom than SQ's own 747s. (SQ 777 routes across the Pacific are from YVR, LAS and one SFO flight via ICN. I don't know if fares will be as low via the Atlantic via ORD).
Most asian travel agencies in YYZ would have different fares on SQ. SQ usually sells 2 fare levels. One that collects miles and one that doesn't. The difference is usually about C$100 or so.
SQ also offers great stopover packages on hotels in Singapore for as low as C$1 a night so maybe you'd like to check out that option as well.
I've flown on SQ in economy and definitely prefer the 777s than the 747s. Only thing is that you cannot pre-select your seat. You may only request ie aisle, window, emergency exit.
