I didn't mean it is on-par with SQ, I meant with a lot of other airlines. SQ J is quite roomy, but often with a higher price. Other airlines have less seating across, as the seats are on an angle, and so the seat pitch is a lot less. I agree that BA seats do look quite cramped when viewing the whole cabin, however I find once seated, the length of the seat is great.

SQ seats are very wide, but are spaced quite close together:

SQ is 55" seat pitch, and 34" wide. Although, some length is gained having feet go under the seat in front.
BA is 73" seat pitch, and 20" wide. Although, some width is gained at the shoulders, and sacrificed at the feet.

Not disagreeing with you, just pointing out the different approach to arranging seats.
