Will us and all our luggage (2 large bags, 3 carry-on size bags) for a week fit in a full size?

What will be our pickings at TPA?

What are the chances they'll give me a minivan or Tahoe at the counter (I'm probably one of the few who would actually want one) without paying for an upgrade??

Thanks!
Minivans and large SUVs are in very high demand in Florida for the very same reasons you would like one. Don't count on getting one for free.

Back to your original question: you should be fine in a full size. If you can get an Impala (which is usually a full-size and is very popular in rental fleets), I don't think you'll have a problem fitting everyone and the luggage.
