Even with 24 hours notice, I don't think it is actually that difficult to go online and buy a ticket tbh, so in the respect of wanting to travel 1st class , then yes, it is the passengers' fault not to rebook if it was a big issue to them
Two similar legs time-wise, second one slightly shorter but not by much: SIN-DXB-WAW rtn. DXB-WAW leg is where they seem to be juggling between 2 and 3 class layouts and causing mayhem with existing bookings.
I received a call from them about this in the afternoon with the initial flight out of SIN at 9:35am the following morning. Not a lot of time to cancel the entire journey and start planning all over again. Plus there was a stopover at DXB with hotels booked, so not as easy as it seems to just ditch everything.
C would have been fine if that's what I would have paid for, but paying for F and getting C is just not on, even for 1/2 of the journey. It's simply not what I purchased. Now the airline can pretend that this is ok and that they don't owe any sort of compensation or fare difference, but ultimately it's the customer who is dishing out the $$$ to fly F. And if the customer is unhappy (and has every reason to if he's not even getting what he's paid for) then guess what, those F Dollars are going to be spent with EK's competitors from now onwards.
