I have this and have used it and it does charge while connected. It only works with iPod and iPhone 1 - 4S. It does NOT work with iPad or anything with a lighting connector. I have noticed a higher instance of the IFE system freezing when using it.

I agree with others here that you are better off using your laptop or iPad to watch movies rather than this cable. It uses some security system that isn't compatible with the newer products.

It would be nice if they could keep up with the times or just use a standard USB connection. At least this part of UA is stuck in the 2000s rather than the 1990s like their website.
