A June trip and you think tour buses will be your problem? Dont forget caravans and tractors!
The timings shown by the google maps are a bit fast, even for me, and certainly if I was touring at leisure. For example Giants Causeway to Dublin Airport in just under 3 hours? It is doable, but I would add another 30 mins at least for comfort. Of course you would flash past within a few miles of lots of sights and scenery.
For instance you will pass by within 5 miles of
Carrickfergus Castle. It is a Norman castle built in 1177, just a few years before American Independence, but with a link to it too.
John Paul Jones had a naval action here in 1778 in the USS Ranger. Perhaps swing by here for an hour?
As you whistle past Belfast on the motorway ring road, slow down a little and you will see on your left hand side where the Titanic was built and this
fabulous tour experience. Pull over and enjoy it.
After seeing that, and whilst you are stopped for afternoon tea in Belfast, can I recommend the
open topped tour bus around the city? It will be good fun and packed with information on the commentary.
Now that you have stopped for the afternoon, why not enjoy a "cultural experience" and enjoy a pint of Guinness in a National Trust property! Belfast has a traditional pub that is a heritage site.
The Crown Liquor Saloon. We often have our Belfast FT meets here for cultural and historical purposes
Sure, now you are getting into the way of touring Ireland. There is so much to see and progress down these roads takes time, and it is now evening and you are less than half way to Dublin. No point rushing. Just drive the hour back up the road towards Bushmills and stay overnight in the
Bushmills Inn, and enjoy a cosy dinner and contemplate an tour in the morning around the old
Bushmills Distillery. After having a tour and getting your own bottle made up ... maybe Dublin is for tomorrow. This afternoon perhaps a bit of fresh air at
Carrick a Rede rope bridge?
Where did those three days go? Suppose we had better get down to Dublin for the plane home? Oh, tomorrow will do.....
Welcome to our pace of life when we are at home, and you are on holiday!
