I'm in the same position as the OP - downgraded from First to Club and retiming of the flight.
Ba.com showing as a 777-200, last time i flew one of those it was to india and the old club seats with the fan dividers...have all planes been updated to the newer longhaul club world?
Currently booked LHR>HKG (club on A380)...BKK>LHR (was in First, now the downgrade)
Dont have a specific itin yet but was thinking about spending most of time in vietnam

Do I
a) change straight to LHR > HKG > LHR (club out, first back on A380)

b) ask to reroute LHR>HKG (club on A380) as now, then BKK>HKG with cathay and then HKG>LHR (First on A380).
I'd be tempted to make BA reroute me so i get to sample Cathays seat and service but it would appear that First is only available on one flight on 31 Dec (which im guessing is what the OP is booked on) - i cant do that as i want to be back in london for NYE celebrations, SO its then cathays regional business class product if im looking at the cathay website correctly- which doesnt look worth the effort.

Any thoughts?
