Right you are! The vagaries of aircraft utilisation - of 42 weekly BKK-HKG flights CX have F on two of them!

However - it leaves at 13:10. HKG at 16:50. The USM-BKK flight will be at 09:30.

Rerouting via HKG & BKK adds almost exactly 12 hours to the journey (via BKK you get back at 16:55 via HKG & BKK you get back at 05:00 the next morning).

Obviously F on the A380 would be a treasure, but not sure the extra 12 hours would be worth it. I'd definitely be looking at getting BA to book me in J from USM on the 17:25 non stop to HKG. That's an extra 8 hours on the beach and you still get A380 in F.
