YVR - FLL, avoid AC metal??
Hi there, trying to get rid of my points b4 the 7yr expiry deadline. Looking for a trip to FLL or MIA but wife wants a stopover in YYZ.

When I try r/t YVR-FLL, I get UA metal with taxes approx $100 each. Add a stopover in YYZ, I'm only seeing AC metal with taxes $210 each. I wish I could do an outbound YVR-YYZ(stopover)-FLL on AC metal and then FLL-YVR on UA metal to save some YQ and the FLL-YVR segment on UA gives me a layover in ORD for 10 hrs, enough time for some deep dish pizza.

Can I book this via phone? If I do 2 o/w, it's going to cost more points

SEA is not an option, travelling with toddlers and want to avoid the drive from YVR.
