I called Cathay to waitlist on April 12 and today (April 17) I received a confirmation of a F that I need to book before early June.

I looked on jal mileage bank and didn't see this award ticket available the past few days.

I am planning to go ahead to reserve this using Asiamiles to secure a seat with my toddler. It will be a morning flight instead of the afternoon (which I prefer because I was hoping to get her to sleep most of the flight).

Does this mean Cathay actually releases more tickets to its Asiamiles members? I have no special status and I didn't even have the number of miles in the account yet (need to transfer from American Express).

Also can anyone let me know for the future reference if I can convert American express points to goldpoints to AAdvantage miles? Is that another option?
