Qantas will indeed through check luggage to another oneworld carrier, even on separate tickets.

Also, AA will protect passengers on a oneworld to AA connection even on separate tickets.

The above are both publicly documented.

Having posted that, 2:15 is a little tight IMHO for an inexperienced passenger, how long to the next flight?

In the end, if she does not make a Noon connection AA will protect her to a later route.
