I don't see any problem with "resort fees". I simply build them into the room rate when I make my choice of hotels. For example, if a property is $150 with a $22 "resort fee", then it's really just a $172 room. Knowing that, I'll choose my hotel accordingly.

It seems silly for properties to play that game, but the rules are simple.
