But as you point out, when you are on the ground, a person can be rushed to the hospital in a matter of minutes. And perhaps receive paramedic care en route. When you are 35,000 feet above ground, you may be SOL.

It isn't a matter of banning anything. It's a matter of accommodating a disability. Believe me I was annoyed that my child can't bring a PB sandwich to preschool (different rules than public school). But I can understand and accept why the rule is there. As opposed to airlines that ban alcohol on board for irrational reasons that have nothing to do with health.
