If I was BA, I would be expecting to exploit my dominant position at LHR by demanding preferential treatment.
I suspect the issue is complicated further by the lack of T1 domestic flights meaning some aircraft must turn from an inbound international stand and there is an unwillingness/not enough time to tow the aircraft to an available domestic stand (e.g. At the 70-80 gates).
I get the general impression the return to T1 experience isn't exactly going smoothly. Two weeks ago the aircraft was fully boarded at departure time, with silence from the cabin and flight crew, when a minibus pulled alongside the jetbridge with (some/all of?)our flight crew who had been delayed operating an inbound into T5. First for me to be on 20 mins before the crew.
The whole operation smacks of BA treading water until they can use the slots elsewhere.
