The argument should be whether the more modern IFE should be free or not - not whether it is a step backwards when compared to these CRT dinosaurs. I certainly don't see it as a positive when I'm on an old domestic 757 just because the awful IFE is free. But then again as a 1K I'm usually in F so I rarely pay for DTV on the 737s or 753s anyway
Well the sCO 737s had drop down LCDs similar to what is on the 319 and 320s. Likely a little bigger with better resolution since they are newer. The classic 757 with the CRTs are one of a kind at this point.

Most people when they fly on the 320s with the leather seats think it's a brand new airplane. One of my friends on a recent FLL-EWR flight commented "Oh that 320 had to be new with the drop down LCDs it had." I had to remind him that they were delivered in the 1990s except UA did a fantastic job on the interior refurbishments.

The sCO 737s look shabby these days. I think the verdict on whether people like to pay for DTV is still out there. A lot seem indifferent.
