I think there's a thread in here somewhere with restaurants and other things in SLC...
That said, I was just in SLC for work a few weeks ago. I have a cousin + wife who live there, so it was really a fun trip
Along with my usual 'work', I was able to do the following:
* saw, "The Magic Flute," at The Capitol Theater. It is a cute little (and historic) theater right downtown. definitely worth a visit, especially if something you like is playing
* ate at Eva for Tapas one night. My cousin and wife are vegan, so I always let them pick where we eat. This worked out well, we got a bunch of small plates of stuff, and just grazed. Plus they have a decent wine selection.
* ate at Himalayan Table one night. Also vegan-friendly, but after Eva and all veggies, I did get 1 chicken dish. Prices are very reasonable, including the wine.
* had brunch at Vertical Diner. Extremely vegan-friendly, and I'd say worthy of a visit, even though it is a bit of a PITA to find.
My work took me to Provo for about half a day... more eating!
* ate lunch at Spark. I was with non-vegans, so was able to eat what I wanted. more on the hip side, in the thick of downtown Provo, and a pleasant surprise. they had some decent lunch specials.
While in Provo, I did get to visit the BYU campus. It reminded me of the U of A campus in Tucson, except the mountains are much closer. I'd definitely try to walk around and explore campus.
On my very first visit to SLC some ~20 years ago, I did the whole Temple Square tour, went in the museum, tabranacle, etc.
I keep saying that I'll get to the ancestry center (I've recently gotten into my family history), but I haven't yet made it there.
Let me know if there's anything else you'd like info on. I could always ask my cousin or his wife for more info.
