A special situation that Quick Select handles is that it ignores flights that have a downgraded cabin. In other words, if you have a AA/F - QF/Y flight, and the search was for an F, that this will not match with "QF", because the QF flight is not in the right cabin.
Taking a quick look at your result, it looks like all the QF flights are in business cabin, while your search was for a First award. This is why your use of "QF" did not select those flights.
I think I understand now, although this doesn't seem like the most intuitive design. I would prefer if the filtering were all explicit. Kayak has a pretty good model for this, with the most common filtering options upfront:
