A friend was recently denied access to a selection of vehicles parked on the lot within his reserved class aisle (The cars were without keys). The reason given was that his reservation was for a one-way rental and they refused to allow these cars to be used for one-way. He was therefore limited to a smaller selection of cars from the aisle (Which were not as 'nice' as the others).

His collection and dropoff points were corporate locations.

Is this sort of thing common and is it wise to avoid one-way rentals if you want to maximise your chance of getting something nice from your reservation?
