It is not just Chattanooga. I Live in WNC, and just booked two TATL tickets for travel in late August from CLT, with a return in mid-September for $1,053 each. This was at least $150 < the equivalent routing from AVL, GSP or ATL for each ticket.

We take a similar trip each year around this time, and always stay in CLT upon our return. The hotel that we use permits us to leave a car in their parking area at no charge, and offers a shuttle to the terminal. The cost of parking at the airport would be significantly higher than the cost of the room.
