I just realized I never came back to update this. When we checked in (admittedly, around 8 a.m.), they did try to give us a room with 2 twin beds. I noticed and asked if we could have a room with a single bed and they gave us a standard room with a queen. There was no offer of a better room for later check-in, but since I hadn't been able to sleep on the flight, I was happy to have a bed for a few hours before we started sight-seeing.
