I have a different view of Turtle Bay Resort. Not sure how they can get away with calling it a resort, for one thing. It's become a very tired place. The location is wonderful and that alone would be a reason to stay there but otherwise, no. Many of the ocean-front rooms look out over a hideous black roof. It really mars the view. The view rooms on the other side of the building have tiny lanais. Many people prefer the beach cottages. These are right across from the beach but not quite as private as you would expect because of the walking paths running in front of them. Although called "cottages" they do have shared walls as they are set in clusters, one next to the other and so on. The hotel is undergoing renovation, I believe. Once completed it might be a better place to stay.

Having said all that, I will tell you that a lot of people return to Turtle Bay year after year and have no complaints.

It's hard to compare this resort to the Hapuna Beach. We stayed at the Mauna Lani on the Big Island a few months ago. There's no way Turtle Bay is the equivalent of Mauna Lani, nor, I think is it similar to the Hapuna Beach. When we go to Oahu we prefer the Royal Hawaiian but that's in Waikiki. I can't tell from your post if you'd be interested in that part of Oahu.
