Never prepay fuel. Don't buy any upsells or add-ons (unless your company reimburses you). This will require your getting into the habit of saying no, I don't want it, over and over, like a broken record. Never allow yourself to be drawn into an argument or explanation why you don't want prepaid fuel, extra insurance, etc.
And for goodness sake, you don't need to volunteer the fact you're going to put 1500 miles on the car, unless it's a one-way rental, or you want a clunker with 50,000 miles on it already.
Get, or use, a credit or debit card that has collision damage waiver included.
