In the 2011 10-K, AA revealed that Horton asked he be given no raise when Arpey resigned and Horton took over, so Horton's salary remained at $618,135(where it had been since 2009) plus about $30k in various perks. Arpey had been paid $669,646 plus about $100k of various perks.
In 2011, before the Ch 11 filing, Horton may have sold some stock that he had been granted in earlier Performance Share Plan payouts before the Ch 11 filing. Although the 2012 compensation info has not yet been released, I presume that Horton's salary remained at $618,135 plus the $30k of various perks. Same thing for 2013. More than twice but not quite three times the pay of the top pilots at AA. Very few CEOs make less than three times the pay of non-management employees.
