When flying on different airlines internationally (irrespective of the flight number) I usually expect the food served to reflect the nationality of the airline.
On a trip last year SYD - CDG on EK, I enjoyed the menu, but did not enjoy the transit experience at Dubai, especially being rudely shouted at by the security personnel at the security checkpoint as they tried to herd a large number of people through into the transit area to catch their connecting flights. The return trip DXB-SYD was in Y on a 777, never again (too cramped and uncomfortable).
The most recent trip from SYD-VCE was via Singapore and on SA, LH and QF on the return leg from SIN-SYD, all in J. The QF plane, had only 1 toilet working in business class, the service was indifferent and the breakfast was inedible (ham & cheese croissant).
So no I won't be flying through DXB on any airline, especially QF and the fact they changed their menu, is just another example of QF losing more of its Australian character.
