I am considering making it difficult for them to process the fine by first sending them my cousins address in the UK who wasn't in Australia at the time. Then having my cousin apologies for the fine and asking them to waver it as I believe my speed excess was no more than 7 or 8 kph over.

Is there any other means of having SDRO cancel the fine by sending them through some more hoops?

Appreciate your comments!
You will NOT get the fine cancelled.

Do you have an AU drivers licence?

For camera detected offences in NSW, the fine is normally 5X what it should be, which is reduced to the normal fine upon nominating the driver, i.e. $105 in this case (it is that way so that companies don't say "We don't know who was driving the car at that time").

Of you have a NSW licence, the fine will be recorded against your record, and after a certain period, involving reminders, your licence and vehicle registration will be suspended, after that there will be a community service order, and finally prison time.

If in Australia, and living outside NSW, then your driving privileges in NSW will be revoked, you will not legally be allowed to drive on NSW roads with your interstate licence..

If outside Australia, the rental company will probably pay it for you, at the 5X rate. There is a procedure in place for SDRO to waive fines, but it is ONLY for AU licence holders who can demonstrate a clean history for the last ten years. Not sure if it applies with you though.
