Just remember to obey the check in deadlines, which are set up to allow time for folks without GE to get through USA immigration and customs before boarding. IME leaving Canada, even if you've done OLCI and are not checking a bag, you still need to see a DL agent to get into the pre clearance area, so if you get there after T-60, you could be denied.
