Sounds good in theory, but US applies the credit to the cost of future ticket, plus change fee (separate charge).

If the future ticket costs more all/in, the balance due is all that will show as the cost of new ticket receipt ... which unfortunately means that the fully refundable ticket idea doesn't work in practice.
