This lack of service intra-europe is compensated by excellent service on flights transatlantic. My last 2 experiences flying IB to NY were excellent. Meals and Service are better than what I'm used to flying BA & AA. (You even get a real knife&fork :-))
Yes, it's a shame that you don't get a free meal intra-europe but I can handle 2 hours without a meal.
