Hyatt House Atlanta Cobb/Galeria (Cumberland) REVIEW - MASTER THREAD

Headed down to Atlanta for the Final 4 and stayed for work for 4 days this week.

Had heard about the brand new Hyatt House opening in Atlanta on April 5, so booked there. Hotel is located 10 minutes north of downtown on Cumberland Blvd. Hotel is right in front of you when you take the Cumberland Blvd exit. (make an immediate right, and entrance is first left)

Check-in fairly smooth on such a busy weekend with a hotel full of hoops fans.. Was told by the front desk that I would be the first one "Breaking in" room 229 as the hotel had just opened the previous day. Also told that this Hyatt House is the first of its kind - built from the ground up. I guess all the other Hyatt Houses used to be a different brand hotel and have been converted.

Room was fantastic. full kitchen with dishes and untensils, nice living room with large sofa.. 50" high def TV with Dish Network and a slew of clear channels to choose from. Fantastic!

Bed quite comfortable. Hug bathroom with very large walk-in showers. This is one of my favorite things about Hyatt House. the huge walk in shower as opposed to showering in a small tub.

Breakfast was free and well stocked, and includes an omelette station. "H-bar" open in the evenings with various short order offerings.

Minor complaints:

The dividing wall between the living room and bedroom does not extend all the way through. It is a stand alone wall with openings on both sides. So no privacy between the living room and bedroom.

The big screen TV that I raved over is mounted in the center of this wall, and is on a pedestal that allows you to rotate the TV all the way around so that it is facing the bedroom. For business travelers, this is fine. For families, perhaps not, since you're stuck with a single TV.

The rooms are finished nicely but whomever picked the color scheme must have been from Seattle or something. Everything is dark and gray including the carpets and trim. Just not a "bright" color scheme.

Overall a great stay and a very nice addition to the Hyatt portfolio.
