Seriously, I have said repeatedly that a smart company would take a summer intern and give him a big database of transactions with the personal information redacted and tell him to go wild with Excel and SQL and tell them how to identify and dump money-losing customers. But business doesn't work that way. There is always someone in sales or marketing who will **** their pants if you do anything to drive away customers. Remember, the motto is "We lose money on every customer, but we make it up in volume."
