Overly Friendly Flight Attendant?

As most of us are, I am used to the Flight Attendant coming around for meal orders and addressing us Mr. or Ms. [Last Name]. Some don't bother, which is fine with me.

Yesterday I was on NRT-ORD in J. As the Flight Attendant went from seat to seat, he introduced himself as Scott, put out his hand while asking each person's name. Personally I was OK with that but considering every single Flight Attendant I've had in F or J, never have I been asked my name (don't they have that on their sheet?). Addressing us Mr or Ms (from my experience) seemed like a corporate policy.

While I found that a bit 'different,' during the long haul whenever he saw me (going to the bathroom, stretching my legs, etc.), he addressed me by my first name. Clearly the guy has a photographic memory when it comes to people's names upon first meeting (I'm jealous!).
